This was E! Entertainment’s first episodic series, and creator Donald Bull knocked it out of the park, delivering them a hit show all the way to syndication. In addition to the theme and show package, Donald wanted a signature sound that distinguished it from the library-music-driven shows that had previously defined the E! schedule. He also had a premonition that Dr. Robert Rey would become the dominant personality on the show (even though that wasn’t the original intent), and we worked to create a library of tracks that would subtly distinguish him from rest of the doctors. The use of musical textures from Dr. Rey’s native Brazil was designed to really underscore his star power and counter balance the medical reality drama format.
